TEACHING
CURRENT POSITION
Instructor of Humanities, Lamar Institute of Technology
Currently, I serve the community of Beaumont as an Arts and Humanities instructor at Lamar Institute of Technology, a 2-year college focused on developing a skilled workforce for Southeast Texas and beyond. In my position, I use the Arts and Humanities classes to develop students' critical thinking, communication skills, social responsibility, emotional intelligence, and creative problem-solving, soft skills necessary for all aspects of the workforce that directly translate from theatre.
PREVIOUS POSITIONS
Director of Theatre, Lamar State College - Port Arthur
I revitalized and reignited the Drama Program at Lamar State College in Port Arthur, TX. At one of Texas's most respected two-year colleges, I taught a two-semester acting sequence, as well as courses in Theatre History, Script Analysis, Theatre Appreciation, Film Appreciation, and Public Speaking. In addition to my duties as a teacher, I also directed 2-3 shows per year, offered clinics to local high schools for UIL One Act Play, and facilitated recruitment tours around the State of Texas.
- Graduate Part Time Instructor, Texas Tech University
- Graduate Assistant and Instructor, Miami University

As a teacher, I strive to make my students better public citizens and critical thinkers. In order to achieve this goal, I have found four elements which sit at the cross-section of my teaching: having an inclusive classroom, keeping my students actively engaged, ensuring transparency in my assessment, and maintaining a sense of community between myself and the students.
